to the Health Science’s Library’s website. Here you
will find detailed information about our
services and the extensive range of facilities and
information resources we provide to support your
learning , research or teaching needs. Your
anticipated informational needs, the Mission and Vision
statements of the North West Armed Forces Hospital
Program and those of the Health Sciences Library, were
consulted when designing the website and selecting
information for inclusion. Allow me to take you on a

Clicking on one will take you directly to the site’s
home page.
The five links
at the top are designed to help you find information
quickly. The Databases
link will take you to more popular sites used
by health care professionals . To facilitate selection of
sites in this category we have provided the site’s
logo as a visual aid and an abstract describing the
content of the site. You will also find sites to free
electronic books under the E-Books link.
We have included links to a selection of twelve books for
you to sample.
The E-Journals link will take
you to a number of sites offering access to free
journals. Some sites will require free registration. The
first link, entitled NWAFH eJournals
provides links to our library's electronic journals.
You will learn
much about the services available to NWAFH
employees under the Services link. The About
Us link will provide you with the library’s
hours of service, telephone numbers, etc. If you would
like to know who works in the library click on The
Team.
The
HOME link is available on all pages except when
accessing HotLinks. You will have to exit these
sites in order to get back to the library’s website.
The
links on the left hand side of the HOME page are
also rich with information. The Quick Reference
link will take you to medical dictionaries, medical
encyclopedias, medical abbreviations,
acronyms and synonyms, etc. If you want to know
if we subscribe to your favorite journal, click on Serials
List. Information
regarding medical conferences; locally or worldwide, and
on professional associations can be found under the Conferences
and Associations links
respectively. If you are interested in
health information for the layperson, the Consumer
Health link has a large number of interesting
sites on offer. Non-medical information of potential
interest to many employees, such as information on
embassies, currency conversions, world atlases, etc, can
be accessed through the General Information link.
If you are interested in courses, workshops,
symposiums or conferences , see the Education link for upcoming
educational sessions.
The Subject Guide is designed to
provide information to books & journals, by subject
area along with related professional organizations.
The
Middle East Medical News and the World
Medical News links will be used to provide
you with medical news from the Middle East and from around the
world respectively. The Library News
link is designed to keep you informed on
changes made to
the site, additions made to various links or forthcoming
library news items. The Catalog can be
searched using subject, keyword, title, etc, for
holdings to our books or references to articles published by NWAFH staff.
We
welcome your comments and any suggestions you may have
for improvement. These may be submitted via the Guest
