Welcome to the Health Science’s Library’s website. Here you will find detailed  information  about our services and the extensive range of facilities and information resources we provide  to support your learning , research or teaching  needs. Your anticipated informational needs, the Mission and Vision statements of the North West Armed Forces Hospital Program and those of the Health Sciences Library, were consulted when designing the website and selecting information for inclusion. Allow me to take you on a journey through the HOME page.

See HotLinks on the HOME page for links to websites that are highly utilized by health care professionals and by health sciences

librarians alike, when searching for biomedical information. Clicking on one will take you directly to the site’s home page

The five links at the top are designed to help you find information quickly. The Databases link will take you to more popular sites used by health care professionals . To facilitate selection of sites in this category we have provided the site’s logo as a visual aid and an abstract describing the content of the site. You will also find sites to free electronic books under the E-Books link. We have included links to a selection of twelve books for you to sample.  The E-Journals link will take you to a number of sites offering access to free journals. Some sites will require free registration. The first link, entitled NWAFH eJournals provides links to our library's electronic journals. You will learn much about the services available to NWAFH employees under the Services link.  The About Us link will provide you with the library’s hours of service, telephone numbers, etc. If you would like to know who works in the library  click on The Team.

The HOME link is available on all pages except when accessing HotLinks. You will have to exit these sites in order to get back to the library’s website.

The links on the left hand side of the HOME page are also rich with information. The Quick Reference link will take you to medical dictionaries, medical encyclopedias, medical abbreviations,  acronyms and synonyms, etc. If you want to know if we subscribe to your favorite journal, click on Serials List.  Information regarding medical conferences; locally or worldwide, and on professional associations can be found under the Conferences and Associations links respectively. If you are interested in health information for the layperson, the Consumer Health link has a large number of interesting sites on offer. Non-medical information of potential interest to many employees, such as information on embassies, currency conversions, world atlases, etc, can be accessed through the General Information link. If you are interested in courses, workshops, symposiums or conferences , see the Education link for upcoming educational sessions.  The Subject Guide is designed to provide information to books & journals, by subject area along with related professional organizations.

The Middle East Medical News  and the World Medical News links will be used to provide you with medical news from the Middle East and from around the world respectively.  The Library News link is designed to keep you informed on  changes made to the site, additions made to various links or forthcoming library news items.  The Catalog can be searched using subject, keyword, title, etc, for holdings to our books or references to articles published by NWAFH staff.

We welcome your comments and any suggestions you may have for improvement. These may be submitted via the Guest Book, the site’s email: librarywebsite@nwafh.med.sa, by telephone at 85-202, or in person.

This site is a work in progress and many changes are expected. I encourage you to take the time to explore and discover the wide range of quality resources and services on offer .Whether you visit the library in person or  access our substantial collection of electronic resources  online , I hope that your visit will be both  informative and enjoyable.

Kind Regards,
